Medial Stabilizer
We developed this modification to provide additional support for people who collapse along the medial aspect of their foot, i.e. posterior tibial tendon dysfunction. |
The medial stabilizer involves adding rigid material to the medial aspect of the shoe (see yellow highlights in image at right) to increase the medial lever arm of the shoe. When combined with a foot orthosis, it provides a very effective way to increase medial support for a collapsing foot. Our technicians hide the modification so that it is virtually unnoticeable. |
Lateral Stabilizer
This modification allows us to provide additional lateral support to chronic supinators. |

Elevation with Rocker Sole
This modification is done to compensate for a leg length discrepancy. |

This modification is done to compensate for a leg length discrepancy. The rocker sole is necessary to allow the patient to ambulate smoothly over the sole that has been stiffened as a result of the addition of the elevation material.
